VH Theatrical Development Foundation, Inc.
Producer
The VH Theatrical Foundation (VHTD Foundation) is committed to new writing of merit for an intelligent audience not averse to words orserious subject matters. It aims to offer an opportunity for development to those creative artists, writers, directors, producers, designers and other theatrical support artisans and staff interested in live theatre, and to develop and perform such new works while stimulating public interest in quality theatre and providing cultural education.
It serves audiences of all ages and especially aims to reach seniors and students who might not normally be able to afford the theatre. It also provides women of all ages with work opportunities that allow them to excel in this male-dominated industry (typically, women receive only 1/5 to 1/8 of paid positions in theatre). Between the productions mounted in 2012 and those already mounted and slated to mount in 2013, The VH Theatrical Development Foundation will reach in the region of 12,000 audience members from the state of New York.
The Foundation has produced, among other plays, the Off-Broadway production of Gregory Murphy’s The Countess, (which ran for 634 performances and was named one of the 10 Best Plays On or Off Broadway in the 1999/2000 Season) and the New York-Premier production of Otho Eskin’s Duet, which extended its run three times and is currently in development for an Off-Broadway production in 2014.
